Airline and travel arrangements

Book your arrival into Balmaceda airport, with Lan or Sky domestic airlines, preferably in the earlier (a.m.) flights. Book your return flight out of Balmaceda in the later (p.m.) flights.

Whirling disease

In Chile we are free of the "Tournament disease", so please clean with a solution of 1/8 of chlorine and 7/8 of water all of your lines and backing and wading gear, in order to keep our rivers and lakes free of the disease.

Weather and travel luggage

Soft, duffle style luggage is recommended. Weather in Patagonia is unpredictable, and can result in dramatic temperature swings, from 40º to 80º Fahrenheit at elevations of 2500 to 3000 feet. The wind chill factor must be considered when dressing for Patagonia's weather. Wearing layers of proper clothing, insulated underwear, warm gloves, and quality rain gear will ensure your comfort.

Arrival to the Lodge

Your arrival to PBL will occur typically during the late afternoon. We will be expecting you with a traditional Pisco Sour cocktail. Later, a review of next day's fishing activities, and dinner at our gourmet restaurant.

Tobacco

>Smoking is not permitted in the rooms for security reasons, only at the Club House or in open areas. Tobacco is not included in our supplies, so be sure to bring along your favorite.

Drinking Water

The water supply in the Lodge is fresh, filtered, and safe to drink. However, if you have experienced stomach unrest during travel in the past, we recommend you to drink bottled mineral water only.

Communications and transportation

We are equipped with telephone lines, Internet connection, Email, and satellite TV (Club House). For transportation, we have two 4x4 double cabin pickups.

Your health

The Lodge is located at 1 hour driving distance from the nearest hospital. Make sure you are in good physical condition before departure. If you are under medication of any kind, don't forget to bring with you all your medicine supply for the whole period of your stay.

Tipping

If you want to show your appreciation to the staff, gratuities are the best way a guide and house staff to know they have performed well.
