Early Season expectation, November and December

Few are the places in the Chilean Patagonia that can boast crystal clear low river waters at the begining of the season in November as the Baker and Cockrane basins.
Our best kept secret fishing spots coincide with the end of the spawning period for the rainbow trout and also with the increased impressive enthomolgy insects activity, a distintive characteristic of the Baker river basin.

April and May 2012 Big browns on the Baker... Come and find out..

This is truly one of the best periods of the season
The days are shorter but very concentrated with activity on the surface and beneath it.
Mayfly hatches offen takes place around mid day and in late afternoon. The biggest fish usually are landed on streamers close to the surface.
Zonker variations are the most productive, with scuplin and muddler heads.
Suggested rod size is 6# with a floating or sink tip line. Most of the fishing is done from a drift boat.
We expect brown trout activity to increase as we get closer to the end of the season, some trout are already showing spawning colors and shapes
Our season runs until May 10, we still have availability for the last weeks. A few fish above 30 inches have been landed being the average 20 inches.
This is a set of photos by a husband and wife that fished for us during a week the first week in April.
